Position Highlights

The vice chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Neurology will work in strategic consultation with the department chair and the leadership at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix (Banner - University Phoenix). The vice chair will lead development and coordination of neurology subspecialty services with a special emphasis on neuromonitoring and expansion of academic neurology coverage of multiple Banner hospitals. The vice chair will also serve as a mentor to subspecialty program directors and junior faculty and will be developing collaborative relationships with university, clinical and community partners.

The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department, actively participate in teaching, clinical service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.

The successful candidate will meet the requirements of a career track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental clinical care vision and infrastructure.
  • Build internal and external relationships to inspire and promote academic collaborations across the health system.
  • Promote and provide a cutting-edge neurological care environment of the highest quality and integrity.
  • Foster neurology subspecialty care programs of national distinction through innovation and collaboration.
  • Mentor medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.
  • Engage in teaching and research activities for trainees and faculty.
  • Participate on appropriate department and/or College committees as well as professional organizations, as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess an MD or
    equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be eligible for a University of
    Arizona academic appointment at the associate professor level or higher.
  • Be board certified (or
    participating in Maintenance of Certification (MOC) if lapsed) in
    Neurology.
  • Be eligible for unrestricted
    medical licensure in the State of Arizona.
  • Be eligible for medical staff
    membership at Banner - University Phoenix.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience and recognition in the development and successful implementation of new clinical care programs.
  • Demonstrate experience and national recognition in the development and successful implementation of inpatient and outpatient Neurology Care and Neuromonitoring tools.
  • Have experience with hospital partnership and collaboration.
  • Have served on hospital committees.
  • Exhibit experience mentoring students in research projects.
  • Have experience supervising faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal communication and professionalism skills.
