Job Summary We are seeking an experienced AV Technical Manager to lead the technical execution and quality assurance of commercial audiovisual integration projects across multiple branch locations, including Phoenix, Dallas, and Atlanta. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing AV engineering, programming, DSP configuration, commissioning, technical documentation, and field team performance while ensuring projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and profitably. The AV Technical Manager serves as the technical authority for the division, providing mentorship and guidance to Field Engineers, Programmers, and Project Engineers while collaborating closely with Project Managers, clients, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses extensive hands-on commercial AV integration experience, strong leadership capabilities, and expert-level knowledge of AV systems, networking, commissioning, and technical project delivery. Job Responsibilities
Lead the technical execution of multiple commercial AV integration projects from design review through final commissioning.
Review and validate engineering drawings, signal flows, rack elevations, network topologies, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Oversee audio DSP configuration, control system programming, system integration, and technical commissioning activities.
Mentor, train, and develop technical staff, including Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Programmers.
Establish and enforce technical standards, best practices, and quality control procedures across all projects.
Collaborate with Project Managers to support staffing plans, resource allocation, scheduling, scope validation, RFIs, and change orders.
Identify design deficiencies, material discrepancies, and technical risks while providing corrective recommendations.
Support complex onsite commissioning efforts, troubleshooting activities, and system performance optimization when required.
Coordinate with client IT teams regarding network requirements, switch configurations, VLAN implementation, and multicast traffic management.
Ensure consistency and quality across all engineering deliverables, programming standards, and commissioning documentation.
Maintain project profitability through effective technical planning, resource management, and workload prioritization.
Serve as a primary technical point of contact for customers, general contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Oversee testing, calibration, and validation of AV systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings, commissioning reports, programming backups, and system records.
Promote and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
College degree, Associate degree, or technical certification preferred.
Minimum 10 years of commercial AV integration experience with significant hands-on commissioning, DSP, control systems, networking, and field installation experience.
Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing technical teams.
Expert-level knowledge of AV design documentation, including signal flow diagrams, rack layouts, elevations, network diagrams, and construction-ready drawing packages.
Extensive experience with audio DSP configuration, control system programming, and commissioning of complex AV environments.
Strong understanding of commercial networking concepts, including VLANs, multicast traffic, IP addressing, and coordination with enterprise IT departments.
Demonstrated experience reviewing technical designs, validating project scope, identifying material discrepancies, and supporting project execution teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, staffing needs, and technical resources simultaneously.
Strong customer-facing communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and AV project documentation workflows.
Ability to travel locally to project sites as needed.
Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders when necessary, and perform physical inspections of installed systems.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or technical education in Audio Visual Technology, Electronics, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Work Experience
10+ years of commercial audiovisual integration experience.
5+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and managing technical AV personnel.
Experience supporting large-scale commercial AV projects across corporate, retail, education, industrial, healthcare, and similar environments.
Experience reviewing engineering deliverables, overseeing commissioning activities, and managing technical project execution.
Previous experience coordinating with project management teams, contractors, consultants, and customer stakeholders.

Location: Open to candidates local to Phoenix, AZ; Dallas, TX; or Atlanta, GA.
Work Environment: Fully onsite position supporting local branch operations and project locations.
Schedule: Typical start time of 7:00 AM.
Expected Work Hours: Approximately 40-50 hours per week based on business needs and project demands.
Project Environment: Large-scale commercial AV integration projects including corporate offices, retail facilities, educational institutions, industrial facilities, healthcare environments, and other commercial spaces.
Travel: Local travel to customer and project sites required as needed.
