Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for conducting pre-employment, occupational health, and fitness-for-duty medical examinations for candidates and employees referred to Employee Health Services. This role supports occupational health programs through clinical assessments, diagnostic testing, immunization administration, and review of medical screening results. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with employees, agencies, and healthcare professionals to evaluate health conditions, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote workplace safety and wellness.

Job Responsibilities




  • Conduct pre-employment, occupational health, and fitness-for-duty medical examinations for candidates and employees.



  • Review respirator mask questionnaires and complete medical clearance reports for employees requiring respirator use.



  • Evaluate audiometric testing results and prepare reports for employees and referring agencies.



  • Assist with diagnostic testing, including electrocardiograms (EKGs) and pulmonary function testing.



  • Administer immunizations, including Hepatitis, rabies, and influenza vaccines, in accordance with occupational health protocols.



  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical conditions and healthcare needs.



  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and reports in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.



  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, agencies, and occupational health staff to support employee health and safety initiatives.



  • Educate employees regarding occupational health procedures, testing results, and preventive health measures.




Job Requirements




  • Current New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).



  • Certification by the New York State Education Department in a specialty area to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.



  • Knowledge of occupational health, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and employee health services.



  • Ability to interpret diagnostic and screening test results accurately.



  • Experience administering immunizations and conducting clinical assessments.



  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.



  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations and standards.
