Requisition Summary

Vehicle Functional Definition group is responsible for the definition, design, and development of PACCAR's continuously improving vehicle functionality. This position will be responsible to define functional requirements across a wide range of technological advancements, including connected vehicles, EVs and hybrid vehicles.We are looking for a team player who will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering between different NA, EU and Australia Paccar divisions.

The Systems Engineer will lead requirements development for systems related to commercial diesel trucks, EVs, and connected vehicles being developed at PACCAR Inc. They will develop deep knowledge related to their system and be considered the technical expert for system feature requirements and function design. The utilization of 'systems level thinking' will be key in this role. We are looking for a highly energetic and creative thinker with attention to detail. We are looking for someone who can work with a high-performance team to manage the technology and process to ensure timely delivery of their function definition.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of systems development such as requirements definition, analysis and development of their applicable system
  • Implement new feature and functions.
  • Assist Architecture team with Control Function Architecture
  • Create and maintain applicable system/subsystem/component software specifications in IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
  • Lead/participate in software peer reviews to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Provide technical leadership for sophisticated technology development
  • Collaborate with other System Engineers and subject matter experts to define and negotiate key functional and performance requirements
  • Ensure work is completed as per the milestones with excellence
  • Responsible for compliance with PACCAR Inc. processes and safety procedures
  • Represent the team globally as a key partner to the product
  • Support and/or lead activities for customer outreach and education in these technologies and their respective use cases
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and basic project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong technical leadership skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • Experience in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process
  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink for building low resolution prototypes.
  • Experience working with EV's and/or fuel cell vehicles.
