Job Summary

The Fiscal Technician Sr in Accounts Payable at the Maricopa Community College District (MCCCD) performs essential technical accounting support and clerical services to ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, employee expense reimbursements, and payment obligations in compliance with District policies, state, and federal regulations. This position involves processing high-volume transactions, matching invoices with purchase orders, verifying appropriate account coding, and resolving discrepancies with vendors and internal departments. The technician maintains comprehensive financial records, assists with month-end closing, and reconciles vendor statements to maintain the fiscal integrity of the district.

Essential Functions

30% Maintains and updates financial reports and accounts payable entries, including reviewing and working statements in adherence with compliance and applicable policies and procedures.

30% Responds to routine questions related to policies, procedures, transactions, monitors, and reconciled fiscal records.

30% Retrieves information and enters/updates information in reports, logs, or other documentation/record-keeping systems.

10% - Perform duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of related fiscal, finance, or accounting support experience, such as processing and reconciling financial transactions

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications
  1. One (1) to Three (3) years of specialized Accounts Payable, bookkeeping, or general accounting experience in Higher Education.
  2. Two (2) or more years of experience working in Oracle: Financial Management System.
  3. Three (3) or more years of proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  4. Demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills to resolve invoice disputes and maintain professional relationships.
  5. 3-Way Match Knowledge: Proven ability to match purchase orders, receiving reports, and vendor invoices.
  6. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.


Special Working Conditions
  • Candidates must be available to work on-site.
    • Monday - Friday, 8am-5am, Summer Hours Monday-Thursday, between 7am - 6pm.
    • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
