Position Overview

The Manager, Product Management - Epic, is a front-line leadership role responsible for guiding a small team of product managerswhile actively contributing as an individual product manager. This role blends people leadership, product execution, and operational discipline to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across Epic-focused product squads.The individual will be responsible for developing product management talent, elevating Epic domain expertise, and standardizing ways of working to drive scalable and predictable outcomes. They serve as both a coach and a practitioner-supporting strategic alignment while remaining close to the work.

This is a hybrid role based in Madison, WI, with an onsite presence fourdays per week.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage a team of product managers, who are responsible for the day-to-day product development activities, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and feature prioritization. Ensure their work is in alignment with department objectives and informed by strategic directions from leadership.
  • Manage one product sub pillar or a specific set of features within a larger product line and lead the product team with market research and gathering customer feedback to define product requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, and marketing to ensure successful product launches.
  • Lead tracking product performance using metrics and analytics to support ongoing optimization and iteration.
  • Be a resource for and mentor junior product managers by providing insight, recommendations, and guidance on product management best practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships and transparency with key stakeholders across multiple functions and at all levels of the organization.
  • Represent product management in cross-functional initiatives, as assigned by Management, and action on behalf of as appropriate.
  • Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assessing employee performance and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field of study; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience working within the product management discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to agilely adapt to the respective audience (team member to senior leadership).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Epic systems and architecture, with an understanding of core workflows, integration patterns, and data structures
  • Deep expertise in a specific Epic module or domain is valued, but hands-on build/configuration experience is not required
  • 5+ years in an organization that utilizes Epic (Can be in various capacities: At a health system that uses Epic, a payer that interacts with payer platform, or even Epic itself)
  • 3+ years of experience in product management or closely related roles, such as product ownership, business analysis, solutions consulting, or technical program management
  • 2+ years of experience using interfaces in a health care or clinical context
  • Product Manager Certification (AIPMM CPM)
  • Agile certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent)
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO, Scrum Alliance)
  • Experience with service design and operations.
  • Understanding of user experience and human centered design.

Salary Range:

$112,000.00 - $190,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
