Description

Under
the oversight of the Director of Cardiology services and the general
supervision of the Cardiovascular Services Supervisor 2, Manager and Medical Director
of Adult Echocardiography or Pediatric Echocardiography, the Principal Echo
Technologist performs high level echocardiographic ultrasound studies with
minimal clinical supervision. The Principal Echo technologist must have 7 years
of direct cardiac sonographer experience and hold two current verified credentials.

* The
Adult Principal Echo Technician must be registered in Adult Echocardiography
RDCS (AE) through American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
credentialing company. Additionally, the
Principal Adult Echo Technologist must hold a pediatric echocardiography RDCS (PE)
certification through ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Congenital Sonographer (RCCS)
certified through Cardiovascular Credentialing Institution (CCI).

* The
Pediatric Principal Echo Technician must be registered in Pediatric
Echocardiography RDCS (PE) through ARDMS. Additionally, the Pediatric Echo Technician must be certified in Fetal
Echo RDCS (FE) through ARDMS.

The
Principal Echo Technician must be proficient in providing all clinical
modalities offered in the Adult or Pediatric Echo Lab including data
interpretation for generation issues preliminary reports according to
departmental procedures and job standards. Additionally provides expertise in
managing technical innovation in the lab, including management of service
contracts and providing staff training. Assists in obtaining and maintaining
lab certification and initiates quality projects. Functions as a technical
expert and clinical leader among the Adult or Peds Echocardiography lab staff.
Assists the Cardiovascular Supervisor 2 and Manager in organizing and
completing general information and data for IAC and/or AIUM accreditation.

Salary Range: $64.55 - $85.14 hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Successful completion of a cardiac echocardiography technology program.
    • Principal Adult Echocardiographic Technician- ability to be Registered (ARDMS) in adult cardiac echocardiography RDCS (AE), and pediatric echocardiography RDCS (PE) or registered (CCI) congential cardiac sonographer RCCS.
    • Principal Pediatric Echocardigraphic Technician- ability to be Registered (ARDMS) in pediatric echocardiography RDCS (PE) and Fetal Echocardiography RDCS (FE)
  • BLS certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • 7 years of Adult or Pediatric/Fetal echo tech experience
  • Knowledge and ability to apply knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Ability to apply theory to practice in the application of ultrasound technique to the clinical evaluation of the target anatomy.
  • Ability to push the 500+ lb. echo machine for distances up to 100 feet within the office.
  • Skill and manual dexterity to manipulate transducer and buttons, and knobs on the echo machine to obtain optimal studies.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to use P.C. and word processing software to generate written preliminary reports.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to make preliminary evaluations of echo studies to generate written preliminary reports.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain log of procedures, track charge documents, compare activity records, and determine that all studies are billed and collected for.
  • Principal Adult Echocardiographic Technician- ability to be Registered (ARDMS) in adult cardiac echocardiography RDCS (AE), and pediatric echocardiography RDCS (PE) or egistered (CCI) congential cardiac sonographer RCCS.
  • Principal Pediatric Echocardigraphic Technician- ability to be Registered (ARDMS) in pediatric echocardiography RDCS (PE) and Fetal Echocardiography RDCS (FE)
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal to no direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, nurses, staff, and others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and/or follow physician orders, policies, procedures, or written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to deliver basic cardiac life support (BCLS).
