Position Summary

The Bearettes Coach, in collaboration with student leaders, develops, promotes and supports the operational and strategic aspects of the Bearettes majorettes team, including coordinating auditions; planning, scheduling, and running team practices and meetings; coordinating team uniforms; and choreographing routines to be performed at games/events.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and supports the facilitation of Bearettes rehearsals two-three times per week.
  • Provides advanced or specialized activity instruction to Bearettes drill team dancers, including developing and teaching new choreography.
  • Attends all home football games and select home basketball games.
  • Supports Bearettes student leaders with operational needs of the team including scheduling, budget, uniforms, etc.
  • Works with the Director of Spirit to advocate for team needs such as space, budget, performance schedule, etc.
  • Evaluates student performance and designs instructional opportunities to improve execution.
  • Aids the team in recruitment endeavors and enriches team performance.
  • Ensures adherence to all governing rules, policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of majorettes style dance, particularly choreography.
  • Required skills and experience in advising, mentoring and supporting student leaders.
  • Effective interpersonal, motivational and team leadership skills to work effectively with participants.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem-solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Current knowledge of or ability to learn applicable rules and standards of the affiliated collegiate league (ACC), regional conference and National Governing Body and at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Special Conditions:

    • Sensitive information includes but is not limited to employee and student records, health and patient records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information, and any other sensitive or non-public information learned during the course and scope of employment.
    • Understands that sensitive information should be shared on a limited basis and actively takes steps to limit access to sensitive information to individuals who have legitimate business need to know.
    • Ensure that sensitive information is properly safeguarded.
    • Follow all organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy.
    • This includes secure handling of physical and digital records and proper usage of IT systems to prevent data leaks.
    • The unauthorized or improper disclosure of confidential work-related information obtained from any source on any work-related matter is a violation of these expectations.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Maintains CPR / AED and First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Special Conditions:
    • Previous experience working with age-level specific to an activity is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Other Information

  • Travel Requirements - 10% travel to select away basketball and football games.
  • This is not a visa opportunity. This position does not include sponsorship of a new consular H-1B visa petition that would require payment of the $100,000 supplemental fee.
