We have an opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Golden Valley, MN team. You will principally support our Flow Business Unit, as well as provide support to other legal and compliance initiatives as a member of the legal team.

This individual is expected to be in office for a minimum of 3 days/week on-site in Golden Valley, MN.

You will:

  • Provide the full scope of direct legal support to the Flow Business Unit, which includes advising on commercial and manufacturing related transactions, marketing, intellectual property, product regulatory compliance, risk and safety, and anti-trust.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with customers, vendors, and product dealers and distributors.
  • Collaborate with others on cross-border transactions, corporate initiatives, and standardization efforts.
  • Support the broader legal team as requested, including with respect to strategic transactions, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and compliance matters, litigation, and claims.
  • Provide advice and legal support regarding marketing and regulatory claims and product certifications.
  • Provide training to company business partners on various contracting, risk management, legal, regulatory, and compliance topics.
  • Perform special projects and support continuous improvement of legal department standard work, knowledge management, and processes.
  • Support policy and process coordination among all constituencies, including enterprise, business unit and legal, finance and accounting teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Provide support on governmental or quasi-governmental inquiries (environmental, safety, customs, or otherwise) as needed.
  • Where outside expertise is appropriate, they effectively manage the work and expense of external law firms.

Key Qualifications:

  • JD from accredited law school of recognized standing and currently licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • A minimum of 5 years of legal experience is required.
  • Ability for limited travel ( 10%)
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and transactions.
  • Prior in-house legal experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Results oriented, displays sound judgment and ability to balance business considerations and get results, while maintaining effective risk management and effective business relationships with varied constituencies.
  • Ability to provide excellent, timely customer service in a fast-paced and quickly evolving business and regulatory environment. Enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks and projects.
  • Quick learner who can handle multiple projects simultaneously and work well both independently and as member of a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Is able to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
  • High degree of discretion and judgment; absolute confidentiality and integrity.
  • Understands how to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines. Proactive and reliable.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related computer skills, including legal redlining. Experience with a Contract Lifecycle Management tool is preferred.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $128500 - $238600/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
