JRAD is seeking candidates for an immediate backfill position supporting the Mask and Issuance Facility on APG Edgewood, MD. The selected candidate will manage and maintain the Mask Issue and Toxicological Agent Protective Clothing Facility and provide operational and maintenance support to the Process Engineering Facility (PEF), including preventive maintenance, repair, and operation of chemical and biological defense equipment, respiratory protection systems, PPE issue services, hazardous waste management, and field operations support within chemical surety facilities at DEVCOM CBC. Responsibilities also include equipment accountability, technical support for explosive operations, and compliance with environmental, safety, and chemical agent training requirements.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Manage, operate, service and maintain the Mask Issue and Toxicological Agent Protective Clothing Facility and provides building maintenance support to the Process Engineering Facility (PEF). Specific areas of responsibility include the preventive maintenance and repair of air filtration systems, pumps and compressors.
  • Provide mask and industrial respiratory protection issue, personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing issue, laundry and sanitation, breathing air compressor services, cascade and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) system support, and Antidote Treatment, Nerve Agent, Auto-injector (ATNAA) services.
  • Support field operations in chemical surety material facilities at DEVCOM CBC. Field operations support includes equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, minor construction using specialized tools, and equipment, transportation, and technical support for explosive operations.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test and operate military unique and commercial equipment, used to support chemical and biological (CB) operations to include chemical agent filter systems, chemical fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, ductwork, pumps air compressors and generators.
  • Maintains databases for accountability of all items issued from the Mask Issue and Toxicological Agent Protective Clothing Facility, notifying personnel about due dates for items issued and generating and distributing delinquency reports.
  • Manage, operate and maintain Satellite 90 day Hazardous Waste Facility to support activities.
  • Participate in recurring mandatory training to include but not limited to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazardous Waste Operator and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), Occupational Respiratory Protection, Protective Suit maintenance, repair, donning/doffing, First Ad, CPR/AE, Security Awareness, Chemical Agent Safety Training, and others.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Valid U.S. Driver's license required
  • High school diploma required
  • May require qualification to operate industrial vehicles (e.g., forklifts up to 6,000 lbs)

Preferred Skills and Education:

  • Prefer experience in the maintenance, repair, and decontamination of PPE and chemical handling equipment
  • Prefer knowledge in handling and decontamination of chemical / biological warfare material
  • Prefer experience in operating and testing cascade breathing air systems
  • Prefer knowledge and experience with chemical / biological inspections to include SURETY / DAIG inspections
  • Prefer clean shaven to support Donning/Doffing of CB masks

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Secret level from the U.S. DoD
