The Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center, a 123-bed sub-acute and long-term care facility, offers comprehensive rehabilitation and skilled nursing services for adults ages 18 and older. The Manor has an employment opportunity available for an Activities Assistant. This role provides support to the Activities Department in coordinating and running daily programs for residents. Responsibilities include helping plan and implement a diverse calendar of activities and events. The Activities Assistant may also be required to assist with driving the facility bus or car if they hold a valid NJ driver's license or CDL.



Responsibilities

    Implements group and individual activities as directed by the Activity Director/Specialist.
  • Directs resident interaction, foster engagement, encourage participation, and build connections with residents during programs.
  • Ensures individualized interventions are used when needed for behaviors or in group activities with residents of different levels and strengths.
  • Ensures interactions with residents are individualized.
  • Provides functional assistance when needed.
  • Provides needed supplies and adaptive equipment such as visual aids (magnifiers, audio books), hearing aids (amplifiers, headphones).
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the residents cared for.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and/or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed.
  • Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
  • Assists with setting up and breaking down events, preparing supplies, and transporting residents to and from activity areas.
  • Assists with planning by providing input and help with the logistical aspects of creating monthly calendars and newsletters.
  • Follows monthly calendars in providing scheduled programs.
  • Follows infection prevention processes with equipment and furniture.
  • Decorates designated areas to promote awareness of seasons, holiday, and special events.
  • Maintains attendance records for activity functions when applicable.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with strong interest and/or ability in art, music, or helping the elderly required.
  • Associate's degree or college credits in a related field preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Must obtain AAC certification according to NCCAP standards within 3 years of hire date if a full-time employee and within 5 years if a part-time employee (at least 18.75 hours).
  • Ability to lead large and small group programs as well as one to one interventions.
  • Must be willing to expand knowledge and interpret the needs of the aging and life span education by attending continuing education in-services.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Compensation Range: $16.00 - $25.60 per hour

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.

The benefits outlined also reflect CSHS' policy at the time of posting. Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs.
