Your Job

The Wood & Fiber Supply (WFS) Group Manager will report to the WFS Region Manager, with the primary responsibility of leading the WFS teams in Texas/Arkansas. This candidate will be responsible for advancing the Principled Based Management (PBM) culture and delivering results in support of the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SSP) vision.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of professionals who develop and execute procurement strategies to maximize long term value for Georgia-Pacific's manufacturing facilities in these areas. An ideal candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, as well as communicating effectively across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

This is an onsite position and must be based out of one of the following GP locations: Pineland, TX, Diboll, TX, Camden, TX, Corrigan, TX, Gurdon, AR, or Fordyce AR.

This role will also travel ~25 - 35%, including some overnight travel.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific's Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization ensures that the company's mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips to sustain its tissue, packaging, paper and building products manufacturing operations. W&FS operates in some 15 U.S. states, and sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional or individual landowners.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and develop a WFS procurement team; coach performance, build bench strength, and create an engaged, high-expectation culture.
  • Supervise direct reports - creating clear Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations (RREs), monitoring performance, providing feedback, and developing opportunities for improvement.
  • Advance a PBM culture through regular team routines, open challenge processes, and continuous improvement.
  • Align the team with the SSP vision to create superior value for the company.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term sourcing strategies aligned to business priorities and basin conditions (headwinds/tailwinds).
  • Partner with mill operations and business leadership to improve raw-material value, identify opportunities (e.g., log mix, LVL opportunities), and strengthen mill profitability.
  • Identify and track key performance indicators that signal sourcing gaps and opportunities; communicate strategies internally and externally to enable mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Ensure strong forecasting and budgeting discipline, including accurate projections of volumes and costs and routine updates to forecasting tools/applications.
  • Support innovation and experimentation for both WFS and manufacturing. Stay abreast of issues and respond appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of the business, including relevant standards, audits, required training, and applicable regulations (e.g., scale house/woodyard compliance and environmental/HR requirements).
  • Build and strengthen relationships with suppliers, contractors, and business partners to support business priorities and deliver results through mutual benefit.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in wood and fiber supply operations
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Experience of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Willing to travel ~25 - 35%, including some overnight travel

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Forestry, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field
  • MBA or Master's degree or higher in Forestry, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Experience communicating (verbal, written, graphical) with business leaders and other significant stakeholders
