About This Role

K-State Olathe (https://olathe.k-state.edu/)invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computer and Data Science to contribute to an DOT-funded research program. This is a 12-month term, renewable annually for up to 2 years contingent upon funding. The immediate supervisor for this position will be Professor Majid Jaberi-Douraki.
The Research Associates/Postdocs will support the development and implementation of a centralized data clearinghouse for the Crash Preventability Determination Program (CPDP) by leveraging the 1DATA platform to integrate crash reports, police citations, inspection data, and emerging visual data sources (e.g., roadway images and video) from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This position focuses on transforming disparate data sources (including vision-based inputs) into a secure, accessible, and user-friendly repository that enables comprehensive analysis of crash events and related safety factors. Through advanced data integration, management, visualization, and reporting, the Postdoc Associate will enhance the accessibility and usability of complex transportation safety data for state and federal agencies. Their work will support stakeholders in identifying patterns, trends, and risk factors associated with roadway incidents, ultimately informing evidence-based policies and interventions designed to improve traffic safety and reduce crashes.
