Pay Range: $23+/hour (Depending on Experience)

Role Overview

The Shop Technician is a technical role supporting inspection, shop operations, and long-term development into equipment service and calibration. While a portion of the work involves inspection, the primary goal is to develop a technician capable of supporting fusion equipment over time.

Estimated Work Breakdown



  • ~25%: Inspection and measurement of electrofusion couplings
  • ~50%: Mechanical training and support on McElroy butt fusion equipment (18" and below)
  • ~25%: Shipping, warehouse, and general shop support


Key Responsibilities



  • Inspect electrofusion couplings to verify dimensional accuracy and quality
  • Measure components to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Verify fittings meet electrical performance requirements (current and amp draw)
  • Document inspection results and report non-conforming products
  • Assist with service and maintenance of McElroy butt fusion equipment (18" and below)
  • Support calibration of electrofusion processors, McElroy dataloggers, and fusion equipment (as trained)
  • Assist with equipment preparation, cleaning, and staging
  • Support shipping and warehouse operations
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment


Qualifications



  • Strong attention to detail (critical for inspection work)
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment service
  • Ability to use measuring tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation
  • Basic computer skills


Preferred:



  • Mechanical or equipment repair experience
  • Basic electrical understanding (amps, current, resistance)
  • Inspection or QA/QC experience
  • Industrial, construction, or rental equipment background
  • Familiarity with HDPE or fusion equipment
