THE POSITION

As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, you will help keep buildings, equipment, and grounds in strong working condition. This job is ideal for someone who likes staying active, learning new skills, and tackling different tasks. Your work will support crews across the facility and help ensure a safe environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds by completing a wide range of repair and upkeep tasks. It supports safe operations and ensures that important areas of the facility stay in good condition. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electrical Work: Installs and replaces electrical circuits, wall plugs, lighting fixtures, and switches, and complete basic lighting repairs
  • Plumbing Tasks: Repair leaks, clear drains, and install or replace plumbing fixtures
  • Carpentry Repairs: Fix doors, windows and sills, install paneling and flooring, and replace window screens
  • Surface Work: Mix cement, repair sidewalks, and prepare and paint surfaces
  • Equipment Care: Perform preventive maintenance and make minor repairs to tools and systems
  • Seasonal Support: Operate snow removal, landscaping, and cleaning equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport for this position. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
