| Essential Job Duties |
Join a team that plays a vital role in creating safe, high-quality athletic environments for student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Supporting the Turf & Grounds supervisors, this position offers the opportunity to work hands-on in all aspects of athletic field, facility, and grounds management. From preparing fields for game day to maintaining the equipment and systems that keep operations running smoothly, you will see the direct impact of your work every day while helping deliver an exceptional experience for practices, competitions, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare athletic fields and facilities for practices, competitions, and special events, ensuring they meet high safety and presentation standards.
- Perform turf and grounds maintenance activities including mowing, fertilizing, seeding, sodding, top dressing, verti-cutting, pruning, grading, and watering.
- Assist with the maintenance, repair, and operation of grounds equipment and automatic irrigation systems.
- Support day-to-day facility upkeep and respond to operational needs to keep athletic venues event-ready.
- Work athletic and special events as scheduled, helping ensure smooth operations for participants and spectators.
- Apply safety procedures, regulations, and best practices related to turfgrass and facility management.
- Evaluate grounds conditions and help determine appropriate maintenance products, materials, and repair processes.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school or General Educational Development (
GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver's License may be required. |
| Preferred Qualifications |
- Prior experience working with Athletic Field and Facility Management
- Knowledge of the effect to turf grass caused by weather, traffic, fertilizer and chemicals.

Pesticide applicator license should be obtained within 1 year of employment. |
