Accounting & Revenue Specialist Non-Exempt
Position Overview
The Accounting & Revenue Specialist is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the organization and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This role supports financial operations by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable, and preparing financial reports while ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple financial processes in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Record business transactions by posting journal entries and maintaining the general ledger
- Reconcile bank statements and account balances on a regular basis
- Maintain records of business transactions by posting entries and reconciling accounts
- Compile and maintain subscriber billings records to include final updates from service order activity
- Assist with the capital credit issuance and reconciliation process
- Reconcile customer accounts and process any necessary balance adjustments
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice review, coding, processing, and payment
- Review, analyze, and interpret financial data to support decision-making
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies
- Monitor financial transactions and identify discrepancies or issues
- Support audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- 1–3 years of accounting or related experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, utilities, or cooperative environment
- Familiarity with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- Experience with accounts payable, general ledger, customer billing, or financial reporting
- CPA or progress toward certification (a plus)
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based role
- Combination of independent work and collaboration with internal departments
- Structured environment with recurring deadlines, especially during month-end and year-end cycles
