DESCRIPTION
The Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego is seeking board-certified or board-eligible physicians to serve as Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) Hospitalist Physicians at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD). The CTICU operates as an admit-to-discharge, adaptable-acuity unit, caring for patients across the full spectrum of cardiac care - from critical illness and acute postoperative recovery through convalescence and discharge home. CTICU Hospitalist Physicians will practice exclusively in the CTICU under the supervision and direction of Cardiac Intensivist Attending Physicians. The CTICU Hospitalist role will include:
This is a unique and rich opportunity for new pediatric residency or fellowship graduates - including pediatricians, freshly trained pediatric cardiologists, and pediatric intensivists - who are considering or preparing for a career in cardiac intensive care. The position is ideally suited for candidates seeking a dedicated year of immersive experience in pediatric cardiac critical care to develop expertise in the pathophysiology and management of complex, high-acuity cardiac patients, refine procedural skills, support families through difficult moments, and explore cardiac intensive care as a long-term career path under the instruction and direction of expert cardiac intensivist faculty. Standard work shifts will include both daytime and overnight.
