WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: This dynamic Philanthropy Director will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward HNW individual donors and prospects from a Division perspective, with a primary focus on building new donor relationships and opening new philanthropic markets. Provide significant divisional support and expand donor financial support of the American Red Cross by developing a new pipeline of transformational individual gifts. Grow an assigned portfolio of donors, sponsors, and prospects to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals exceeding $5,000,000, with an emphasis on sevenfigure and multiyear giving. Assist donors in creating meaning and legacy through impactful philanthropy in support of the American Red Cross mission. Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers and senior stakeholders engaged in highlevel fundraising efforts. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD This leader will design and implement Divisionlevel fundraising strategies focused on securing large, transformational gifts from highnetworth individuals. This includes building a new donor pipeline rather than managing a fully established portfolio. Manage and develop complex individual, corporate, and/or foundation relationships, including sevenfigure gift opportunities that may cross regional or divisional boundaries.
Scope: Senior individual contributor and acknowledged expert within the organization and the broader philanthropic community. Participates in industry and knowledge reference groups and represents the organization with credibility among highnetworth individuals and advisors. Demonstrates mastery of a specialized fundraising discipline with a thorough understanding of multiple related disciplines. May develop new solutions and approaches for complex, highimpact fundraising initiatives. Regularly interfaces with executive leadership, senior volunteers, and board members. The position is fully remote. The candidate must reside within the Northeast Division, with a strong preference for individuals living in or deeply familiar in Connecticut, New York, and Northern New Jersey. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: * Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline required * Minimum of 10 years of progressive fundraising and/or sales experience within large, complex organizations * Demonstrated success soliciting and stewarding large individual gifts, including sevenfigure and transformational gifts * Proven experience building new donor relationships and pipelines, rather than solely managing inherited portfolios * Extensive knowledge of highnetworth individual fundraising strategies, longcycle cultivation, and donor stewardship * Experience operating effectively in relationshipdriven, highwealth markets, preferably within the Northeast * Track record of working collaboratively with executive leadership, board members, and senior volunteers * Strong understanding of fundraising operations, prospect research, and CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) * Ability to function as a senior individual contributor with high autonomy and accountability * Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the Division (25-40%) * Valid driver's license with a good driving record Skills & Abilities: Exceptional organizational, analytical, presentation, and communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written). Strong relationshipbuilding skills with the ability to engage highnetworth individuals as peers and partners. Proven ability to operate independently with high initiative and persistence. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce). Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with senior leadership. A current, valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Travel: 25-40% Divisional business travel will be required to support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Physical Requirements: Physical requirements are those present in a normal office environment. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods. May include sitting for long periods, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging or timesensitive conditions. This job will be posted for a minimum of five days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded. The salary range for this position is $163,000-$200,000 per year, plus incentive compensation. American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors used to determine salary may include relevant skills, depth of experience, and internal equity considerations.
