Job Summary VSolvit LLC is seeking an Oracle Database Developer to be part of our Chesapeake, VA team on a full-time basis supporting our NIWC - US Navy customer on the Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) program. The team provides software design, development, implementation, and operations expertise to the customer. The Database developers work with a team of Developers, Cloud and Network Engineers. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.
Technical Skills
- Highly skilled in SQL and PL/SQL script development
- Write complex code and queries and participate in code reviews
- Create and maintain tables, views, indexes, triggers, types, packages, policies and other database objects as needed
- Perform system design, upgrades, and maintenance according to business needs
- Maintain database design and system documentation (DBDD)
- Design and update database in accordance with DISA STIGs
- Knowledge of SQL security features implementation to support the STIGs such as Data Masking
Non-Technical Skills
- Participate in the SAFe Agile Scrum team environment with a focus on planning and delivering changes iteratively
- Must have a Lean-Agile mindset and adhere to Agile Principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities
- Lead the development efforts of a Database Development Team
- Provide guidance and support to Application Developers
- Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning
- Upgrade and improve application schema and data upgrades
- Process work accurately and in a timely manner
- Always pay attention to details
- Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements
- Development of back-end queries and business logic using SQL and PL/SQL
- Work with analysts to refine the design and implementation details
- The senior Database developer is expected train and oversee the work of less experienced Database developer
- Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance
- Must have Level 1 or higher IAT Certification (A+ CE, Security+, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP)
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science and Minimum 10 years' database development experience
- Experience working with development tools like SSMS, SQL developer, Jira, Jama, Confluence and Bitbucket
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to work remotely without any distractions
- If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years Database Development experience with 5 years of technical experience in support of complex software applications and solutions.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge executing Agile software methodology and principles.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, blocking/deadlocking, connectivity and security issues
- Experience in standard SQL DBA tools
- Professional knowledge of a variety of tools and applications
- Demonstrated PL/SQL development - ability to write and troubleshoot PL/SQL code and develop stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints
- Databases support a large government business platform comprising custom developed web applications, commercial off the shelf applications, large government reporting systems and other environments
- Support design and testing of database partitioning and schema options to support the next generation reporting environment
- Support current environment to optimize stability and performance for all transaction processing and daily reporting
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through four or more years related application/infrastructure experience utilizing the company's standard toolsets. Specific assignments may require recognized certification in an area of expertise.
- MS SQL Server experience in addition to SQL experience is a plus
- Experience supporting data architectures on versions various SQL versions
- Knowledge of moderate to highly complex programming, system design, and analysis principles, and general business operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with users, project teams, and management.
- Ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact.
- Ability to respond to significant inquiries from users.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
