Job Title: Human Resources Professional (Open Rank: Entry - Senior)

Job Summary:

The Department of Neurology is looking to recruit a Human Resources (HR) Professional to support the department on a variety of human capital needs. The HR Professional will share responsibility of 200+ department employees, including faculty, professional staff, students and volunteers with the department's HR team. This individual will utilize the Department of Neurology's database and reporting of the human resources functions of the department under discretion of the Business Services Program Manager. This position is responsible for managing functions in the Human Capital Management system (HCM), which includes functions related to appointments, hiring, funding, additional pay, promotions, terminations, disciplinary actions, and time collection. This individual will support human resource programs including processing employee life cycle HR transactions (e.g., talent acquisition, performance management, credentialling, and related trainings), payroll/benefits, performance management, and employment relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works on all aspects of visa applications for international employees, including initial applications, extensions and amendments in compliance with USCIS and University ISSS office regulations.

  • Performs the full-cycle talent acquisition responsibilities for the department. This includes writing job descriptions, recruitment coordination, interview coordination, and completing all CU Careers processes), adhering to the department and university policies and processes.

  • Performs the hiring processes for the department (e.g., HCM Transactions, Department and SOM HR approval workflows including faculty credentialling.

  • Process a variety of human resource transactions (i.e., position creations, hiring requests, payroll, terminations, leave, etc.) using the University technology enterprises.

  • Remains current and up-to-date on all human resource, research, and faculty affairs policies and communicates changes as necessary to faculty and staff.

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of department human resource programs, policies, and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations.

  • Responsible for employee orientation, development, and training.

  • In conjunction with the Operations Coordinator, coordinate onboarding of new employees into the University and HR systems, such as obtaining institution badges, office keys, parking, IT access for email and servers, office space and telephones, scheduling orientation and assigning trainings as necessary.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level

  • A bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university

Professional Level

  • A bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university

  • 1 year of professional experience working in a human resource, accounting, and/or finance setting

Senior Professional Level

  • A bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university

  • 2 years of professional experience working in a human resource generalist capacity

  • Experience working in an academic medical human resource capacity

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

All levels:

  • 2 years of professional experience working in a human resource generalist position

  • 3 years experience working in an academic medical human resource capacity

  • Experience working with visa applications for international employes

  • Experience with the University of Colorado Anschutz Human Capital Management (HCM) system

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.

  • Ability to administer time collection, employee funding, and payroll.

  • Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Knowledge of professional standards, concepts and practices related to Human Resources.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive information.

  • Ability to take initiative with daily work activities and collaborates to create a positive effect on team performance.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

  • Entry: $48,512 - $65,006

  • Intermediate: $52,793 - $70,742

  • Senior: $57,073 - $76,478

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
