*Role Overview* We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Benefits Administrator to support day-to-day benefits operations and partner closely with the Benefits Manager and external vendors. This role plays a key part in benefits administration, compliance, employee support, and open enrollment activities. The position is open to remote candidates, with San Diego-based candidates considered a plus.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with early HR or benefits experience, including recent graduates with a strong interest in HR and benefits administration. *Key Responsibilities* *Benefits Administration & Employee Support* * Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service and escalating issues to the Benefits Manager as needed. * Process benefit enrollments and changes for: * New hires * Separated employees * Qualifying life events * Medical support orders * Review, approve, and document dependent verification materials. * Maintain and update employee benefit records accurately and timely. * Manage and route incoming benefits-related emails appropriately. *Open Enrollment & HRIS Support* * Partner with benefits vendors to support annual open enrollment, including: * HRIS system setup, testing, and reporting * Employee communications and inquiry support * Assist the HRIS Analyst with auditing and testing benefit feeds to and from *UKG (UltiPro)*. * Systematically audit data and benefit feeds monthly to ensure accurate and timely transmission between systems. *Billing, Invoicing & Compliance* * Audit carrier and benefit supplier invoices for accuracy. * Submit invoices for payment and process expense submissions through *Concur*. * Handle billing reconciliation and identify discrepancies or trends. * Identify opportunities to improve audit processes and operational efficiencies. *Leave of Absence, COBRA & Workers' Compensation* * Support COBRA administration and reporting. * Coordinate leave of absence (LOA) administration by: * Ensuring required notices and documentation are completed accurately and on time * Partnering with Payroll and IT to update leave start/end dates * Tracking employee premium payments during leaves * Act as internal point of contact for workers' compensation: * Contact employees after workplace injuries * Collect documentation and file claims within required timelines * Assist with investigations as needed *Wellbeing & Wellness Programs* * Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of company-wide wellbeing initiatives. * Support plan administration, participant communications, and ongoing customer service related to wellness programs. *Reporting & Documentation* * Create and maintain regular and ad hoc reports related to benefits, COBRA, and leave administration. * Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support HR objectives. *Required Qualifications* * Bachelor's degree *required* (or equivalent relevant experience). * *2+ years of HR experience* OR *1+ year of benefits-focused experience*. * Basic understanding of HR compliance and benefits administration. * High level of proficiency in: * Data entry * Microsoft Word * Microsoft Excel * Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. *Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications* * Experience supporting benefits in medium to large organizations (1,000+ employees). * Exposure to *UKG (UltiPro)* and/or *V Swift* (no extensive experience required). * Intermediate knowledge of HRIS systems and HR data. * General knowledge of state and federal laws governing health benefit plans. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, outliers, and data issues. * Intermediate math skills. *Core Competencies* * Highly detail-oriented with strong accuracy and proofreading skills. * Exceptional organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. * Strong sense of urgency and accountability. * Customer-service mindset with a supportive, employee-first approach. * Process-improvement oriented with a continuous improvement mindset. *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
