Job Description

This position is a strategic corporate finance role supporting KeyCorp's overall financial performance, with direct responsibility for helping drive the financial performance of the Consumer Bank Line of Business, specifically Business Banking. This team is continuing to grow and will play a key role in supporting new investment areas within Business Banking.

This role provides critical financial management, forecasting, and strategic analysis support to help craft the financial performance narrative of the business and how it contributes to KeyCorp's broader financial results and strategy. The individual will have exposure not only to Business Banking, but also to adjacent lines of business including Retail and Commercial Banking, creating a more diversified and enterprise-wide view of performance.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen, executive presence, technical capability, and a continuous improvement mindset. This individual will be expected to take ownership of core financial processes, lead reporting enhancements, drive process optimization, and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and insight generation across the organization. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as this role regularly interacts with senior leadership and influences business decisions through data-driven analysis and recommendations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Financial Management, Forecasting & Analytical Excellence

  • Owns and supports the monthly forecast process with Business Banking leadership, including running the financial books, maintaining oversight of performance versus Plan and historical trends, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Develops and enhances driver-based forecasting models to improve the accuracy and predictability of financial results, with a focus on understanding Business Banking performance drivers and reducing reliance on qualitative overlays.
  • Leads month-end close reporting activities, including variance analysis, performance commentary, and forward-looking insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of Business Banking financial performance, including key P&L and balance sheet drivers, and translates complex business activity into actionable financial insights.
  • Utilizes analytics to identify trends, profitability opportunities, and relationships across various client segments, products, and business initiatives.
  • Creates reporting to monitor progress against strategic initiatives and evaluates performance relative to external benchmarks, industry trends, and macroeconomic factors.

Reporting, Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Owns and enhances key financial reporting deliverables, including Business Unit Reviews (BURs), scorecards, executive reporting packages, travel reporting, bluebooks, and business case analyses.
  • Partners with leadership to deliver further BUR enhancements and reporting improvements that increase transparency, usability, and strategic value.
  • Continuously evaluates existing reporting and forecasting processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual activities, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Applies a technical and process-oriented mindset to strengthen data flows, reporting structures, and utilization of financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Leads reporting enhancement initiatives that improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of financial information provided to business leaders.
  • Demonstrates ownership of complex analyses from inception through presentation, ensuring recommendations are clearly communicated and supported by data.

Partner Management & Executive Support

  • Serves as a strategic finance partner to the Business Banking Senior Leadership team, providing transparency into financial performance, business drivers, and strategic opportunities.
  • Partners across Finance and Line of Business teams, including Retail and Commercial Banking stakeholders, to deliver insights on business performance and key strategic priorities.
  • Presents financial results, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and business driver trends to senior leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Proactively reviews financial and operational performance to identify key themes, emerging risks, and opportunities that support leadership discussions and decision-making.
  • Demonstrates strong executive presence and communication skills when interacting with senior leaders, translating complex financial concepts into concise and impactful business messages.

Business Operations & Leadership

  • Takes ownership of critical financial management processes and delivers results with limited direction in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Supports a growing finance organization by contributing to the development of scalable processes, reporting infrastructure, and best practices.
  • Acts as a champion for continuous improvement by challenging existing processes, recommending enhancements, and leading initiatives that increase organizational effectiveness.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate finance, or a related finance function, ideally supporting a business line within a financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, including P&L and balance sheet management, with the ability to connect financial results to underlying business drivers.
  • Demonstrated experience running forecasts, managing financial reporting processes, supporting month-end close activities, and owning core finance deliverables.
  • Experience creating and presenting financial analyses to leadership audiences, with strong presentation and executive communication skills.
  • Proven examples of driving continuous improvement, reporting enhancements, process optimization, automation initiatives, or operational efficiencies.
  • Strong technical aptitude with experience working in data-intensive environments and financial reporting systems.
  • Highly organized self-starter capable of operating independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot).
  • Experience with financial planning and reporting systems such as Workday Financials, Adaptive Planning, Essbase, TM1, or Cognos.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $63,000.00 - $96,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
