Director of Ice Hockey Scouting/Assistant Coach

General Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the Head Ice Hockey Coach, the Director of Ice Hockey Scouting/Assistant Coach will play a critical leadership role in identifying, evaluating, and securing high-quality student-athletes who align with the program's competitive and academic standards. This individual will bring extensive recruiting experience, a proven track record of success, and a keen eye for talent evaluation, contributing directly to roster construction and sustained program success.

1. Assist in all aspects of the student-athlete recruitment and evaluation for the ice hockey program to include:

* Lead all scouting and recruiting efforts, including identification, evaluation, and projection of prospective student-athletes at the junior, prep, and international levels
* Build and maintain a comprehensive recruiting database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date evaluations and rankings
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with coaches, advisors, and key stakeholders across all levels of hockey
* Collaborate effectively with coaching and support staff to strategically construct balanced, competitive rosters
* Travel extensively to evaluate talent at games, showcases, and tournaments

2. Assist with the evaluation and performance of ice hockey student-athletes

* Utilize video analysis to supplement in-person evaluations and enhance player assessments
* Evaluate both on-ice performance and off-ice characteristics, including character, work ethic, and cultural fit
* Contribute to long-term recruiting strategy, including pipeline development and positional planning
* Ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and institutional policies related to recruiting

3. Assist with player skill development and team needs (both on and off ice) when on campus

Working Conditions:



  • This position requires significant travel, along with flexible hours including nights and weekends, and a high level of year-round engagement.


Minimum Qualifications (Required):

* Bachelor's Degree
* 4+ years scouting experience within junior, collegiate, or professional hockey
* Demonstrated track record of recruiting high-quality student-athletes
* Proven history of contributing to team success and building competitive rosters
* Strong hockey knowledge with advanced evaluation and projection ability
* Keen eye for talent and high-level evaluation skills
* Strong work ethic with a commitment to preparation and follow-through
* High level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively with staff in a team-first environment
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to work both collaboratively and independently

Additional Considerations:

* Deep network within hockey recruiting circles
* Experience working within a Division I hockey program
* Experience using video platforms and analysis tools to evaluate prospective student-athletes
* Passion for player development and program building

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a full-time, benefited Non-Unit, Professional position in grade AC1. Anticipated salary based on qualifications within range. Minimum: $76,000, 25th quartile: $85,500 and midpoint: $95,000.

A job offer for this position is contingent upon a satisfactory response to a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and background check and review.
