Intern 5G Network Innovation

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Join an innovative team that is responsible for transforming the customer experience by creating and bringing to market new products and services based upon globalized connectivity without boundaries. As an Intern within the Product and Innovation team, you will support the development and testing of SES's next generation 5G NTN network including RAN, Core and Virtualization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Maintain existing server physical hardware including adding NIC cards, adding RAM, and cabling to top of rack switches or physical appliances.
  • Maintain host environment including upgrading host OS and ensuring software releases and associated dependencies are up to date.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of issues related to hosted VNFs and CNFs deployments.
  • Support development and testing of 5G NTN Core and Ran network components and test simulations.
  • Support testing orchestration of cloud and 5G components.

COMPETENCIES

  • Technical knowledge of datacenter virtualization, containers and orchestration of VNFs/CNFs within a hybrid cloud environment that is global in scale.
  • Fundamental knowledge of telecommunications networks and the OSI model.
  • Technical understanding of datacenter virtualization with containers, Kubernetes, microservices and cluster computing within public and private cloud infrastructure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, etc.)
  • Proficiency with coding, scripting and programming (Python, Linux, scripting)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A student currently enrolled or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree or masters program within an engineering or technology field

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • Interface with various network engineering teams to setup, configure and execute testing within a lab environment.
