Duke University's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has an on site position as a Lab Research Analyst I. The Lab Research Analyst I will support cutting-edge research in the Duke Urogenital Microbiome Research Program (Ur-BIOME), focusing on understanding microbial communities and their impact on human health. This exempt-level role combines independent experimental research, biospecimen management, protocol optimization, and mentorship of junior personnel.

The candidate will contribute intellectually to experimental design, troubleshoot and optimize protocols, coordinate with core facilities and collaborators, and communicate research findings through high-quality data visualization and written analysis suitable for publication.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Training

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with low-biomass or challenging biospecimens.

* Experience coordinating with core facilities or collaborative research teams.

* Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, GraphPad Prism) and generating publication-ready figures.

* Prior experience supervising or mentoring students or junior personnel.

* Demonstrated proficiency in DNA extraction, bacterial culture (including anaerobic organisms), and general molecular biology techniques.

* Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills suitable for an exempt-level research role.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $51,448.00 to USD $77,945.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
