Job Purpose

The Transmission Training Representative is responsible to design, develop, maintain, and administer a Transmission Control Center operator training program utilizing a systematic approach that will provide, maintain and enhance Transmission Control Center operators' skills and knowledge to perform their jobs correctly, safely, and reliably. Ensure all Transmission Control Center operators meet or exceed regulatory requirements for training duration and subject matter content in accordance with NERC Standard PER-005 and Transmission Operations Procedure, TOP 10.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and conduct training courses for Transmission Control Center operators including lesson plans, presentations, and assessments.
  • Maintain auditable training files and data including attendance records, training material, NERC Certification Education Hours (CEHs), etc.
  • Develop detailed training schedules ensuring that the minimum NERC CEHs are met for all Control Center NERC Certified staff.
  • Develop and submit for NERC approval NERC course Individual Learning Activities (ILAs).
  • Evaluate and modify existing training programs and materials incorporating new systems, technologies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a 3-year training plan.
  • Develop or revise Job Task Analysis as applicable.
  • Train, develop, mentor and coach new Transmission Control Center operators
  • Develop training programs to be used in the EMS Simulator.
  • Coordinate operator attendance at ISO-NE System Operator Training (SOTs).
  • Participate in incident analysis, committees, and presentations.
  • Represent National Grid on various industry committees related to training.
  • Provide comments regarding industry training standards as necessary.
  • Maintain NERC Reliability Coordinator certification.
  • Maintain Clearance and Control authorization.
Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Systems, Adult Education, or a related field preferred

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric system operations, including realtime operations or coordination preferred

* Demonstrated experience delivering training, including classroom instruction, simulatorbased training, or continuing education preferred

* Experience developing training materials, evaluations, and qualification programs preferred
