The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) is seeking a Lecturer in the One Year MBA Program. Appointment will be part-time (less than 50% FTE) in a temporary, non-tenure-track position.

Lecturer
What you will do:

The Lecturer selected will lead the Applied Business Consulting elective in the One Year MBA program, a cohort program in the Business School at the University of Colorado Denver. These may include lectures in all teaching modes (in person, hybrid, remote or online).

This course is an elective option for students during their summer term, and is designed to expose students who have completed AMBA 6330 (Consulting in Practice) to the full-scale process of scouting, scoping, and completing a real-world consulting project. Students will work individually to apply the concepts learned in the prior required courses to an additional experiential-learning opportunity and explore the new business development process.

Due to the experiential learning structure of the course, the program does not have a set meeting date or time for the course. However, the lecturer is expected to schedule meeting days and times with the students and clients of the projects as needed.

This course is scheduled to be offered from June 8th, 2026 - August 1st, 2026, with students being required to submit pre-enrollment scope of work's to be approved prior to the start of the course. Generally, this pre-enrollment requirement is due to be submitted and approved at least 2 weeks prior to the course start date.

Therefore, the lecturer would need to be available for student questions and SOW review starting as early as the beginning of May 2026.

Duties include delivery of tailored instruction to a variety of language and cultural backgrounds in accordance with prescribed curricular objectives and outcomes, preparing for each class ahead of time with balanced rigorous lesson plans, assessing student progress according to curricular objectives and outcomes, and adhering to program policies and procedures by reporting student offenses (plagiarism, cheating, absences, etc.).

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Graduate degree in management, or an MBA.
  • Recent significant professional, technical, or managerial experience in the discipline related to the teaching assignment; at a minimum, significant experience is interpreted as at least eight years of duties and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Prior experience working in the capacity of a consultant, preferably with an ongoing position that is client facing.
  • Prior experience teaching or guest lecturing in a graduate program on the topic of business.
  • Previous experience collaborating with MBA-level projects, either as a facilitator, participant, or client.
  • Based on the background and experience of the candidates, they may also be asked to assist with the business development aspect of this experiential learning course.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and proficiency in related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in mentoring and teaching in related discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.
  • Ability to effectively plan, establish and implement teaching goals and objectives independently without guidance and direction from other faculty.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

    Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
  • The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for the Applied Business Consulting course is $300 per student who enrolls in the course. This is an elective course and therefore student enrollment varies and the final number of students will be known upon the course start date.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
