PAY RANGE: $60,000 - $80,000 / year

Compensation is determined based on your experience and qualifications.

In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for overtime, commission, performance-based increases, and bonuses.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Agronomy Field Operations Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting training programs that ensure agronomy operations teams perform safely, efficiently, and consistently. This role focuses on operational excellence, standard operating procedures (SOPs), agronomic best practices, and effective use of equipment and technology across agronomy operations.

The trainer works closely with operations leadership, agronomists, applicators, and field staff to improve performance, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs for agronomy operations personnel, including onboarding, refresher, and advanced skills training.
  • Conduct in-field, classroom, and virtual training sessions.
  • Develop training materials such as manuals, SOPs, job aids, videos, and presentations.
  • Adapt training methods to meet varying experience levels and learning styles.
  • Train teams on agronomy operational processes, including product handling, blending, application, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Promote consistent execution of SOPs and best management practices across locations.
  • Support adoption of new technologies, equipment, and operational systems.
  • Deliver training related to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance (e.g., pesticide handling, application standards, recordkeeping).
  • Reinforce safe work practices and compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with audits, certifications, and documentation related to training and compliance.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to operations staff in the field.
  • Observe work practices and provide constructive feedback to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for agronomy operations questions.
  • Track training participation and effectiveness.
  • Gather feedback from trainees and leadership to improve training programs.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend additional training or process improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Operations, Crop Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of Custom Application experience in an Ag Retail environment with proven proficiency in dry fertilizer, crop protection, Nh3 applications, with GPS and data recording equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and communicate effectively with field-based teams, supported by previous experience in training, coaching, or workforce development.
  • Experience in agronomy operations, custom application, with strong knowledge of agronomic practices, crop protection products, operational workflows, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience operating agricultural machinery, especially sprayers and spreaders-and familiarity with GPS and precision agriculture technology.

  • Competency with a computer and Microsoft Office suite specifically PowerPoint and Outlook, including functional competency with ag retail specific software as it relates to the custom application business.

  • Ability to identify and address issues in a proactive manner.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and teammates.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

Other Requirements

  • Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.
  • All required federal and state pesticide licenses within the first six months of employment.
  • Follow safety and compliance standards to help ensure their well-being and the safety of others.
  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
  • The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training, including education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training related to the position's requirements.
