SHIFT: Day, M-F 8:00am start time ROLE Under the direction of the Shop Manager or Shop Foreperson, this position's responsibilities will include but not be limited to: ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain tires of fleet vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Conduct daily physical and visual Inspection of all tires, wheels, and related components of all fleet vehicles, per company maintenance schedules.
- Identify and replace worn tires, wheels, and related components which includes the use of vehicle lifts, hydraulic and or pneumatic operated jacks, impact wrenches, tire bars and other related equipment.
- Mount/dismount tires, locate and repair defects including the use of tire machines, lifter/spreader, pneumatic tools, gauges and various other hand tools.
- Perform basic maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment. Secure tire inventory and tire equipment to ensure safe working order.
- May assist in other areas of the maintenance department as needed. Ability to safely perform light welding repairs a plus.
- Maintain all related records including repair orders, inventory schedules and other associated documents (time and parts usage) both on the computer repair order system or manual logs as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Attends and participates successfully in all training sessions/meetings on mechanical, lifting equipment operation, safe driving and other work-related topics. Assumes responsibility for safe efficient use of vehicles and equipment. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
- 2 or more years' experience working with commercial truck tires.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling and climbing).
- Good mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of tire repair and replacement.
- General knowledge of components of truck wheels and tires.
- Ability to move, stack, and store wheels, tires and other heavy components alone or with the aid of equipment.
- Must be able to use torque and impact wrenches. Forklift certification required (Company to provide training).
- Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area.
- Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License required with air brake endorsement.
