We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Data Governance Manager to join our team. This role is located in New York. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Enterprise-level responsibility for the efficient use of data and AI across the bank through the definition and execution of policies, standards and oversight of key management capabilities.
- Ensure promulgation and adoption of data and AI governance protocols, archetype processes, proper data formatting and use of a consistent, vetted methodology for data and AI management and governance.
- Manage enterprise teams performing data and AI governance activities critical to regulatory reporting, financial management and risk reporting; chair relevant working groups and consult with stakeholders.
- Affirm/endorse recommended data owners for data domains and elements and establish the high-level framework for creation of definitions, business rules, logic, metrics, etc.
- Establish AI compliance metrics and thresholds; review AI compliance results, prepare findings and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
- Ensure appropriate training, standard operating procedures and policies are developed and implemented to prevent non-compliance and mitigate risk.
- Review and approve solutions addressing data and AI governance implications within key stage gates of the SDLC process.
- Collaborate with peer leaders to review and approve strategic approaches to data and AI governance impact of new or existing regulations.
- Develop materials for meetings with executives, functional leads, data stewards, tailored to the target audience.
- Coach and manage team member performance; serve as escalation point for complex or high-profile problems; support team members by anticipating and removing roadblocks.
- Establish enterprise-level functional goals and metrics for data and AI governance.
- Manage financial resources of the function ensuring proper funding and expenditures for enterprise-level data and AI management activities.
- Oversee coaching, performance management and resource allocation by senior managers; develop and oversee achievement of functional objectives contributing to business unit objectives.
- Responsible for financial resources of the area, ensuring adherence to budget and management of expenses, focusing on long-term strategic objectives critical to the organization.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information technology, mathematics/statistics or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- 15+ years of total work experience with at least 5-7 years in management preferred.
- Experience in operational activities (business analysis, testing, etc.), reference data and/or enterprise data/AI management or data/AI governance preferred.
- Preferred experience includes establishing data and AI management best practices, superior communication and presentation skills, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, overseeing full SDLC and multiple development methodologies, regulatory compliance, internal relationship management with key leaders, implementing and coaching on data governance policies and procedures, and establishing and monitoring goals, objectives and metrics.
- Experience in commercial banking, investment banking or other financial services areas is strongly preferred.
BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
