Job Summary:

Complete the Mig and Tig welding process using the provided fixture hand tools, and welding equipment, as instructed by the Supervisor. Responsible for ensuring that all welds meet customer standards. Responsible for operating the fixture, hand tools, and welding equipment in the safest manner possible.

Starting Rate of pay:

$26.02/hr. on day shift.

Shifts Available and Hours:

1st shift M - F (6.00AM - 2.30PM).

What you will be doing

  • Become proficient in operating welding equipment as instructed by the Supervisor. May be required to run machines/heavy presses from time to time, as production schedules demand.
  • Become proficient in operating all hand tools required. This includes but is not limited to, rivnutguns, mono-bolt guns, air powered disk grinders, impact guns, and hand drills.
  • Become proficient at recognizing the product required by the customer and knowing the parts thatmake up those products.
  • Set-up, weld and assemble parts in accordance with quality specifications using the weld fixtureprovided.
  • Weld/assemble parts to match fabrication prints or approved samples, ensuring quality product forthe customer.
  • Make periodic checks to ensure parts match approved samples supplied by the Supervisor or Set-UpPerson. Perform all required SPC.
  • Check component parts during the weld process to ensure material is not scratched, pitted, bent, etc.Weld component and fabricated parts in accordance with customer's standard weld procedures.
  • Stop production and contact the Supervisor when quality problems arise.
  • Analyze the effects of dirt, oil, or other contaminates in the weld joint, and make necessarycorrections.
  • Ensure all applicable safety equipment is in proper working order before operating the fixture,welder, or machines/heavy presses. Report safety concerns to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Report all tooling and print defects to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure that correct SAP part numbers, customer part numbers, and piece counts are marked on eachrack, cart, or skid that is sent to the next internal operation or packaged for shipment.
  • Become proficient at predicting when the area will run out of parts. Report all material shortages tothe Supervisor or Material Handler before running out of parts.
  • Return all unused materials to the proper storage areas.
  • Turn off the power to all applicable pieces of equipment before leaving the area.
  • Properly identify and account for all scrap before leaving the area. Complete all requireddocumentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area for all. Good housekeeping is a requirement.
  • Work to increase productivity and quality. Make suggestions to improve the quantity and quality offinished parts.
  • Exhibit a professional and positive approach at all times.
  • Must be willing to cross-train on other jobs throughout the plant, as needed.
  • When conditions dictate, overtime may be required (with little or no prior notification).



What will make you successful?

  • The ability to operate Mig and Tig welders in all positions (flat, horizontal, downhill, up-hill) is required. Testing and grading of welds by an experienced Hydro Extrusion Welder and/or a contracted professional, will be done prior to an offer of employment ora change in job classification.
  • Prior experience working as a welder in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is required.Priorexperience welding aluminum is desired. Machine Operator/Heavy Press experience is a plus.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Must be able to correctly perform SPC. This requires the ability to correctly use tape measures,calipers, micrometers, lineal check gauges, etc. Must be able to chart SPC information.
  • Must be able to learn the correct and safest means of operating the door fixture equipment and operating machines/heavy presses.
  • Must be able to detect visual material defects and create the highest quality doors/fabricated partspossible.
  • May be required to operate a floor jack to move material from one area to another, if needed.
  • Must be able to maintain productivity level of 85% or higher to remain on the job.
  • Must be able to read/write small numbers and letters. Must be able to make arithmetic calculations.
  • Must be able to perform several tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to problems and work in a stressful environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers in both writtenand verbal form.
  • Must be able to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must follow plant-wide safety procedures at all times. (Note: Accommodations will be made inaccordance with The Americans with Disabilities Act).
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, push, pull, and stand throughout the course of a scheduled shift.
  • Will be required to lift approximately forty to fifty (40-50) pounds, either from time to time orcontinuously, during a scheduled shift.
