Ryerson is seeking a highly skilled Plant Manager to lead operations at our TSA Buford location. This role is responsible for overseeing the strategic and day-to-day management of warehouse operations, sales, and customer service functions.


The Plant Manager will drive performance by developing and executing operational strategies, enforcing company policies, and leveraging data-driven insights and financial reviews. This position plays a critical role in identifying operational trends, evaluating improvement opportunities, and enhancing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused execution across the facility.


Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to align operational excellence with Ryerson's business objectives

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing a team of front-line supervisors in the planning and execution of day-to-day operations ensuring a focus on a safety-first culture
  • Managing staffing, supply, and equipment needs based on forecasted volume
  • Mentoring, developing, and expanding talent and performance initiatives throughout the location
  • Identifying and creating continuous process improvement opportunities
  • Maintains and expands customer base by counseling with leadership building and maintaining rapport with key customers and identifying new customer opportunities.
  • Overseeing machine and building maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to minimize downtime
  • Ensuring warehouse staff are trained in health, safety, and environmental practices pertinent to their positions as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and company policies
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • College degree preferred or High School Diploma with 7 plus years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of five years of warehouse operations experience, preferably within the metal processing or distribution industry, along with demonstrated customer service experience
  • Knowledge of ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined by ISO 9001:2008
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, warehousing, metal handling, equipment operation, and transportation regulations and procedures
  • MS Office experience (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives - e.g. lean manufacturing, 5S, LEAN, 6-sigma etc.
