Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to be based out of our Harvey, IL facility. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting Quality Assurance within Atkore, including ISO requirements & compliance, and supplier quality programs.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of related experience as a Quality Engineer or equivalent in a manufacturing or industrial environment; metallurgical experience a plus. Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or related field. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is preferred.

What you'll do:



  • Ensure clarity and consistency of the ISO requirements across all Atkore facilities.
  • Conduct second party audits at all Atkore facilities to ensure ISO compliance.
  • Support and lead Quality Assurance to meet the demands of customer driven quality improvements and the expanding needs of a growing company.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and lead the resolution and prevention of customer complaints.
  • Support and provide leadership for the Supplier Quality program across Atkore.
  • Perform Quality systems audits of suppliers as needed.
  • Manage UL / ISO / Nuclear accreditations.
  • Ensure effective manufacturing process control programs that maintain focus on prevention of customer quality issues.
  • Support plant cost reductions and process improvement projects through various Quality tools such as FMEA, process capability, Gage R&R, SPC, pareto analysis and other six sigma/lean tools.
  • Write protocols and perform validations of new/improved materials and processes.
  • Continuously improve Quality Assurance capabilities and effectiveness by setting and achieving specified goals/metrics.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time may be required.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor' degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field required.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment; tube mill and/or metallurgical experience is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (preferred).
  • Lead Auditor certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 preferred.
  • Knowledge of inspection, control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing practices preferred.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulations 10 CFR 2 and 10 CFR 50 preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistical theory and principles, SPC and tools.
  • Interpersonal skills suitable for interfacing with various levels of the organization.


              Within 3 months, you'll:



              • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
              • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
              • Gain an understanding of your team.
              • Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.


                      Within 6 months, you'll:



                      • Ensure your team understands their role and identify opportunities within the department to improve.
                      • Utilize the Atkore Business System for alignment and continuous improvement.
                      • Coordinate ISO plant site audits, lead supplier quality status and reporting, and initiate corrective actions to create value and mitigate risk in the supply chain.


                      Within 12 months, you'll:



                      • Drive meaningful improvements for Atkore customers (internal and external) via the Atkore Business System and its tools.
                      • Show demonstrable leadership of supply chain quality including supply sections, supplier validations, supplier development and supply quality monitoring.
                      • Lead teams to drive improvements to internal and external supplier quality via targeting breakthrough results.

                        As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $73,440 - $100,980. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
