Engineering Manager - Manufacturing / Industrial Operations

General Summary

The Engineering Manager leads process standardization, equipment engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving baseline processes, defining and implementing improvements, and overseeing equipment design and deployment (2D/3D), including FAT and SAT execution across greenfield and brownfield environments.

Responsibilities

  • Process & Standardization
    • Establish, document, and govern baseline manufacturing and engineering processes
    • Drive standard work, process control, and best practice adoption across sites
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean
    • Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, waste reduction, flow optimization)
    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity
    • Use data-driven analysis to optimize manufacturing performance
  • Equipment Engineering & Implementation
    • Oversee design and development of equipment (2D/3D layouts, tooling, automation)
    • Lead equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning
    • Ensure successful execution of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Greenfield / Brownfield Projects
    • Support full lifecycle facility builds (greenfield) including layout, equipment planning, and ramp
    • Drive upgrades, expansions, and process improvements in existing operations (brownfield)
  • Project Management
    • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
    • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS)
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, environmental, and corporate safety standards
    • Promote a strong safety culture and risk mitigation framework
  • Leadership & Talent Development
    • Lead and develop a team of engineers and technical professionals
    • Provide coaching, performance management, and succession planning

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related)
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Equipment design and implementation (2D/3D)
    • FAT and SAT execution
    • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance
  • Experience working in greenfield and/or brownfield manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Six Sigma (Green Belt / Black Belt) or Lean certification
  • Experience working in global or multi-site manufacturing environments
  • Strong project management skills (PMP or equivalent a plus)
