Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is seeking a PRN Pediatric Hospitalist with an interest in night coverage to join our team in Falls Church, Virginia.

Our pediatric hospitalists provide 24/7 in-house coverage of the pediatric medical unit, daily care in the newborn nursery (no delivery attendance required), and consultative services to our surgical colleagues. You will join a collaborative group of 24 dedicated physicians committed to delivering exceptional care to children from birth through young adulthood.

In addition to caring for both general and medically complex pediatric populations, our team is deeply engaged in medical education, mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives. We are proud to support our Pediatric Residency Program, which includes 35 residents, and to provide training for more than 150 medical students from two regional medical schools. We also serve as the Northern Virginia campus for the UVA School of Medicine.

Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital is a 226-bed, full-service children's hospital devoted to the healthcare of infants, children and adolescents in the Northern Virginia area. The newly expanded facility opened in 2016, providing state-of-the-art technology, research and teaching innovations, and a dedicated team approach to patient care. Pediatric Hospitalist Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and coordinate care for patients with medical needs from multiple subspecialties

  • Liaise with case managers, nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure the highest quality of care

  • Encourage and participate in an outstanding patient experience

  • Actively participate in the education of residents and medical students during their shifts

  • Assists with teaching fellows in our ACGME Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: An MD or DO from an accredited university medical school, Completed ACGME residency training and subsequent fellowship, Board eligible or board certified Pediatrics

  • Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start, ACLS, PALS

  • Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor

  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship

  • Interest in covering night shifts
