DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform work related the specialized upfitting, maintenance, and support of information technology equipment, communication devices, periphery devices, and associated components relative to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) automotive fleet. You will process new fleets as well as maintain and repair vehicles produced from all manufacturers. Significant responsibilities will include:
- Performing a full range of diagnostic and technical support for fleet related hardware and software to include communication devices (i.e. radios), emergency vehicle lighting systems, emergency vehicle audible warning systems, mobile data terminals, mobile video recorders, and mounted radar
- Assisting with upfitting of vehicles
- Reading and interpreting wiring schematics
- Installing, tracing, and interpreting color coded vehicle wiring.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40, 685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
