Overview

The Medium Duty Truck Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the sales of medium trucks in alignment with the company's objectives and goals, as well as the dealership's gross and volume standards. The MD Sales Manager will assist in the development of advertising and marketing plans and strategies designed to achieve profitable levels of market penetration and attract new customers to the dealership. Meeting established profit and customer satisfaction guidelines is a key priority.

This position is a key part in delivering our customer commitment - to be our customers' Best Business Partner. The person in this role must embody the TEC Way (Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, and Customer Focus) and our Vision, Mission, Values, and Culture, demonstrating the behaviors necessary to meet established goals, objectives, and customer satisfaction guidelines.



Responsibilities

    Take full accountability for the profitability, risk management, and growth of the Medium Duty Sales department.
  • Build relationships and maintain communication with current and potential customers. Travel to customer locations approximately 50% of the time. Anticipate their needs. Proactively introduce customers to other departments or other services that are available.
  • Build an effective partnership and maintain communication with Mack contacts. Ensure all parties have a proper understanding of both Mack and TEC Equipment processes to facilitate timely and continuous results.
  • Maintain solid communication and relationships with internal business partners to maximize dealer profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate marketing plans & ensure TEC Medium Truck Sales is positioned in the forefront.
  • Align department activities with the TEC value proposition and ensure that every employee and customer understands our values and customer commitment. Serve as leader and role-model to team by conducting self with highest of ethical and professional standards and modeling the TEC Core values.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and friendly competition by exemplifying TEC Equipment's Vision, Mission, and Values and consistently positioning our Value Proposition with all customers. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Developing a deep and clear understanding the relationship between the TEC Way and the bottom line.
    • Being open and willing to take on every role within the department when needed.
    • Demonstrating a positive and engaged attitude.
    • Understanding and embracing TEC Culture: Treat every employee equally, empower and invest in your team, prioritize building relationships, buy smart, and maintain departmental flexibility.
  • Analyze financial, payroll, and inventory reports on a weekly basis, MIS reports on a monthly basis, and take initiative to identify and act upon trends and opportunities. Lead business planning for the department. Demonstrate command of financials by completing monthly bridge schedules. Understand when to escalate needs to the General or Regional manager or the corporate team.
  • Set visible objectives and priorities for the department and monitor and discuss progress with the team. Take full responsibility to ensure every employee has a clear understanding of how success will be measured at all times. Create and maintain systems of accountability to measure team members' performance against set targets. Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly targets for all team members in areas including but not limited to credit applications, cold calls, market growth, and sales growth.
  • Hire and develop MD Sales team while managing the appropriate staffing level. Take full responsibility to ensure every employee has a clear understanding of roles & responsibilities and how success will be measured at all times. Support all employees through ongoing training, sales meetings, and regular, productive interaction including corrective action, praise, motivation, and feedback in appropriate measure. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations. Become an Employer of Choice by promoting from within as appropriate, encouraging employee referrals, and being aware of talent within the community.
  • Attend training, departmental meetings, Trade Shows, and Conferences. Stay up to date on company changes, industry trends, product updates, and technological advances. Proactively prioritize own professional development to increase knowledge of business acumen and organizational development best practices in order to positively impact TEC Equipment's profitability. In addition, place an emphasis on professional development for all team members by determining what motivates each team member and the strengths and weaknesses of each team member, and by empowering team to become entrepreneurs within their roles.


Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in trucking industry with previous account management or supervisory role
  • 5+ years' experience in new or used truck sales
  • Knowledge of service support
  • General knowledge of trucks (preferably Mack or other medium duty product) and truck industry
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding
  • Strong people management and leadership skills; ability to develop employees at all levels
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, relationship-building skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office and computer programs (dealer management systems, customer relationship management systems, etc.)
  • Sound business acumen with ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and execute solutions
  • Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment at all times
  • Ability to travel to other TEC locations and to visit customers


Compensation

Our commission-only sales positions offer unlimited earning potential, based solely on your sales performance. We provide clear and transparent guidelines for calculating commissions, ensuring everyone understands how their earnings are determined. The annual pay for this position is expected to be approximately $121,059 - $151,324.
