What to Expect

The Semi Outbound Logistics team is advancing Tesla's mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy through the deployment of Class 8 trucks at scale by delivering them to our customers timely and efficiently.As a Driver Trainer in Outbound Logistics on the Tesla Semi team, you will play a critical part in the delivery of the Tesla Semi and help shape the customers' first impression of the product. Responsibilities include training, reviewing, and certifying internal and external drivers of the Tesla Semi. This position is onsite in Sparks, Nevada and may require limited overnight travel.


What You'll Do
  • Working with the internal Tesla resources to develop content for the driver training material. This material will be partially online and partially in person
  • Work with new yard personnel to train them on the Semi and its safe operation while on company property
  • Work with CDL holders to properly train them on the differences between Tesla and Non-Tesla truck operation. This would include both single driveway and deck set (piggybacked) loads
  • If needed, drive special loads to destination
  • Act as a feedback loop in cases where external drivers may need re-training or are not properly qualified
  • Review Quality / Safety data as needed to assist in looking for opportunities to improve the process
  • Inspect decked loads as needed for DOT compliance and Safety. Move Engineering / Prototype trucks as needed

  • Excellent ability to mentor and coach drivers

  • Assess driver's ability to safely perform duties, including thoseon-premisesor over-the-road

  • Hands-on team leadershipskillsin motivating and developing individuals

  • Familiarity withfreightequipment,carriers, and processes.Understanding ofDOT regulations and requirements such asHOS, andmaximumload parameters andpermittingprocessesasrequired

  • Will require substantial walking, attimes inoutdoor elements. CDL / forklift certifications are a plus

  • Technical familiarity with Class 8 trucks. Tesla Garage familiarityand Tesla Semi, driving experiencea plus
