Position Summary Information
| Primary Purpose |
The primary purpose of this position is to support the teaching and research mission of the
Department of Sustainable Technology & Built Environment by ensuring laboratory spaces are safe, well-organized, and fully functional. The role contributes to an effective learning environment for students and faculty through the maintenance of equipment, tools, and instructional and research supplies. In addition, the position supports the efficient operation of laboratory facilities through coordination, inventory management, and ongoing equipment maintenance. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree and two years of laboratory, research, or technical support experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining construction equipment and power tools.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, solve technical problems, and manage time effectively in a lab environment.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to train others on equipment safety and operation.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Prior experience training students or leading technical workshops/demonstrations.
- Familiarity with construction safety protocols, renewable energy technologies, and lab inventory management.

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Manages and maintains teaching and research laboratory spaces, ensuring all equipment, tools, and materials are safe, organized, and ready for use.
- Prepares labs for instructional sessions.
- Coordinates inventory control, budgeting, and procurement of lab supplies and power tools in collaboration with faculty and department administration.
- Conducts safety inspections, enforces compliance protocols, and trains students and faculty on equipment operation and lab procedures.
- Supports faculty research by assisting with experiment setup, data collection tools, and maintenance of specialized research equipment.
- Liaises with campus Facilities Management and vendors for repairs, installations, and equipment servicing to minimize lab downtime.
- Assists with student hands-on projects and demonstrations, fostering practical learning in construction and emerging technologies.
