What You Will Do

In this role, you will:



  • Problem solve using spreadsheets, databases, statistical software, and other resources to synthesize and analyze data and information,
  • Process data for predictive models and visualization,
  • Assist in creation of models for analyzing and predicting various risks,
  • Validate software output,
  • Create materials to answer client questions on an ad-hoc basis,
  • Prepare and document project files,
  • Assist in R&D and marketing efforts to grow the business,
  • Check teammates' work for technical accuracy,
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms) to enhance research, analysis, and workflow efficiency,
  • Apply sound judgment when using AI outputs, including validating accuracy, identifying limitations, and ensuring appropriate use, and
  • Continuously evaluate and refine personal workflows to incorporate emerging tools and best practices.


What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software,
  • Computer and statistical programming experience, SAS, Python, and / or R, and
  • A college degree in a STEM related discipline such as actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, computer science, or other quantitative field.


Personal Qualifications



  • Strong technical and analytical skills,
  • Strong attention to detail,
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express complicated technical concepts verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences,
  • Curious; Not judgemental, and
  • Adaptable in learning and applying new technologies.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 2-5 years of experience in healthcare, predictive modeling, or a related field,
  • Curiosity and self-direction,
  • Good understanding of statistics,
  • Experience with project management,
  • Experience with VBA,
  • Experience with Power BI,
  • Experience with state management and version control tools such as Docker and Git,
  • Knowledge of large-scale machine learning tools/platforms such as Databricks, and
  • Experience with cloud computing.

The Team

MARA is a platform-independent software product that fuels population health analytics and helps customers implement financial decisions, payment arrangements, and care support programs with confidence. MARA is at the heart of today's leading population healthcare analytics platforms. It provides patient risk insight using demographic, medical claim, and pharmacy claim information. Available since 2009, today MARA supports more than 300 healthcare organizations. Government healthcare programs, not-for-profits, mutuals, for-profit health plans, and healthcare providers rely on MARA models to evaluate risk for financial and medical management applications.

The Milliman Advanced Risk Adjusters team is a group of risk adjustment product experts, healthcare actuaries and analysts, data scientists, and software developers dedicated to developing top-performing risk assessment models and easy-to-use software. We're passionate about building better longitudinal healthcare analytics tools and empowering healthcare stakeholders to solve complex cost and care challenges.

The MARA R&D team supports all areas of product development and support. They work closely with software developers and client services to ensure high quality output is produced that meets the needs of users, and they create materials designed to assist in client training and support. The team also works closely with healthcare actuaries, clinicians, data scientists, and other professionals from various Milliman practices. Employees balance working independently and collaborating with other team members on a variety of projects concurrently.

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is June 30, 2026. This is a remote position. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in select Milliman office locations, if they prefer.

Compensation

The overall range for this role is $59,200 - $109,020. For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the range is $68,080 - $109,020.
  • All other locations the range is $59,200 - $94,800.


A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
