Position Summary

The PD Specialist Simulation develops, implements, and evaluates clinical simulation across the MHS Health System that addresses knowledge, skill, critical thinking, and behavior gaps related to the healthcare environment and incorporates nursing simulation components into the curriculum. The Simulation PD/NPD Specialist will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of nursing professional development to improve the evidence-based simulation efforts of clinical staff throughout MultiCare Health System.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates simulation-based education and events, learning objectives, case scenarios, program planning, evaluation tools and other needs of clinical departments and groups utilizing the Clinical Simulation Program
  • Assures educational programs follow standards set forth by the appropriate accrediting bodies
  • Collects data to support research and commercial projects as appropriate
  • Participates in running simulate events and scenarios as appropriate
  • Creates innovative ideas, evaluates new equipment, and identifies opportunities for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education
  • Mentors colleagues, other nurses, students, and others as appropriate
  • Participates in quality performance improvement activities
  • Participates in strategic planning, ad hoc projects and educational activities as assigned for the department
  • Assists in development of clinical policies and procedures as requested

Requirements

  • PD Specialist - Batchelor's Degree Required
  • PD Specialist - Licensed in current profession in the State of Washington
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) preferred; if not in possession at time of hire, must acquire within 2 years of hire

OR

  • NPD Specialist- Master's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred
  • NPD Specialist - Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington or Multistate License
  • NPD Specialist - ANCC NPD specialty certification preferred; if not in possession at time of hire, must acquire within 2 years of hire

AND

  • Four (4) years of clinicalpractice
  • Two (2) years of experience in an education role preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $93,954.00 - $136,572.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
