Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, Outreach and Engagement, the Director, Learning Engagement and Development (LED) Center provides strategic leadership and has primary authority for the planning, design, approval, implementation, and evaluation of campus learning, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness programs. This role establishes program policies, standards, and success measures, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and strategic plan. The director serves as a key decision-maker with authority to approve and implement organizational development initiatives, shaping a high-performance, leadership-oriented environment across the institution. This position plays a key role in shaping a vibrant, supportive workplace at Lone Star College-CyFair. This role conceptualizes, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive programs for leadership, employee, and organizational development. Aligning these initiatives with LSC's mission, strategic plan, and cultural beliefs to build a high-performance, learning-oriented environment where everyone can thrive. The Director, Learning Engagement and Development (LED) Center serves as a trusted strategic partner to senior leaders to identify college-wide development opportunities and design targeted training options that directly address those needs. This role emphasizes data-driven decisions, strong collaboration with stakeholders across the campus, and the thoughtful integration of innovative technologies and best practices in higher education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads and exercises authority over the planning, design, and alignment of organizational development initiatives. Partners with college leaders to align organizational development initiatives with LSC's mission, strategic goals, and cultural beliefs; conduct regular, comprehensive needs assessments (including surveys, data analysis, gap analyses, and evaluations) to identify development priorities and design targeted training programs that directly address college-wide needs
  2. Designs, approves, and oversees implementation of engaging, high-impact training and professional development programs in leadership, management, career advancement, conflict resolution, onboarding, mentoring, employee wellness, and other priority areas, grounded in adult learning principles. Establishes program objectives, delivery methods, and success metrics and makes final decisions on program structure, content, and resource utilization
  3. Develops and runs specialized programs, including objectives, outcomes, curriculum, speakers, scheduling, resource repositories, individualized support, and communications for Faculty First Year Experience, Empower U Leadership Academy, LED D2L Community Group, and other faculty development, student success, culture, and just-in-time initiatives requested by campus administration in alignment with KPls
  4. Creates targeted training solutions to support employee growth and skill-building; facilitate a Career Development Coaching Program that provides a pathway for employee career advancement, oversee succession planning, employee upskilling, and engagement initiatives delivered across multiple platforms. Collaborate with campus and system partners to build centralized training models, manage learning management systems, and provide training on innovative technologies to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee performance
  5. Collaborates closely with the Opportunity Hub to train faculty on the NACE Career Competencies framework and equip them with strategies to design and implement experiential learning opportunities (service learning, research projects, and other high-impact practices) that prepare students for career success and align with institutional goals. Intentionally infuse career thinking into the curriculum and core experiences to support career success and greater economic mobility for students
  6. Leads organizational change initiatives, culture transformation, process improvements, and performance management strategies. Serve as a trusted consultant, coach, facilitator, and mediator to departments, leaders, and employees on topics including employee engagement, performance gaps, team effectiveness, and professional growth
  7. Builds and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with cabinet-level leaders, deans, vice presidents, system partners, steering committees, and alumni associations. Serve as chair or co-chair and campus representative for key efforts, including: Adjunct Faculty Excellence Committee (hosting meetings, awards, Adjunct Faculty Excellence Week, and Adjunct Connection Night); LED Committee; LSCFocus Representative (overseeing trainings and events); Organizational Development Advisory Council; WebEx support expert; Mental Health taskforce; and Professional Development liaison with the Instructional Leadership Team (reviewing and approving faculty professional development fund requests)
  8. Hires, trains, supervises, supports, and evaluates department staff, including direct supervision of the Faculty Fellow positions (four) for faculty initiatives, program development, and workshop data tracking. Develops, allocates, and manages the department budget, making funding decisions that support the strategic program priorities
  9. Directs and approves departmental communications, marketing, and event recruitment efforts, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and program objectives
  10. Develops consistent assessment tools, tracks program success through ongoing follow-up and data analysis, identifies best practices in higher education, and recommends enhancements to ensure programs remain relevant, effective, and impactful
  11. . Provides strategic direction and long-term planning for institutional learning and development, including defining success measures, anticipating challenges, and committing resources and programs to support organizational goals
  12. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above-average agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a management-level position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or related field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience with developing and delivering professional training in higher education or non-profit organizations
Salary

Hiring salary range is $77,356 - $88,960.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
