Recruiter

German American
United States, Kentucky, Owensboro
Apr 16, 2026

Job Title: Recruiter

Overview:

As a Recruiter, you play a key role in shaping our teams and ultimately our culture by connecting great people to meaningful opportunities. This role exists to ensure we're bringing in the right talent, not just quickly, but thoughtfully. The people you help bring into the organization are the ones who will drive German American forward, and your impact is seen in the teams we build and the culture we strengthen.

You'll partner closely with hiring leaders, guide candidates through the process, and help create a hiring experience that reflects who we are as an organization. This is a role for someone who brings passion, grit, and genuine excitement for building teams that make an impact.

What You'll Do:

A Day in the Life - Every day you're balancing conversations, priorities, and people. You might start your morning partnering with a hiring manager to dig into what they really need for an open role, then shift into reviewing resumes and identifying candidates who are a strong match. Throughout the day, you're connecting with both internal and external candidates, sometimes through sourcing, sometimes through phone interviews, evaluating their knowledge, skills, and abilities to understand fit beyond what's on paper.

You're recruiting for a company with 1,000+ employees across 90+ locations in multiple states, so you take the time to understand our geography, culture, and what success really looks like here. You bring energy and curiosity to the work, knowing the candidates you surface today help shape where we go tomorrow.

Behind the scenes, you're keeping everything moving. You're managing activity in the Applicant Tracking System, scheduling interviews, capturing notes, and ensuring processes stay organized and compliant. You collaborate closely with hiring teams to prepare for interviews, gather feedback, and move toward decisions. While hiring managers make the final selection, you play a critical role in ensuring they have a strong, well-qualified slate of candidates to choose from. When it's time to make an offer, you help guide the process to ensure it's competitive, thoughtful, and aligned.

Some days, you'll step away from your desk to represent us at career fairs, campus events, or in the community. Other times, you'll contribute to team initiatives like internship programs, training sessions, or process improvements. No matter the day, you're focused on creating a smooth, positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.

What it Takes:

  • Prior experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or a related field, or 3+ years of experience in financial services with proven relationship-building skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships and connect with diverse candidates and hiring leaders
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across a wide range of audiences
  • The ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and assess candidate fit beyond what's on paper
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to balance candidate experience with business needs
  • Comfort working with technology, including learning or using an applicant tracking system (ATS) and Microsoft Products
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Flexibility in schedule, including occasional travel (less than 10%) during peak recruiting seasons

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Experience with platforms like Lever, ADP Workforce Now, First Advantage, WebEx, Indeed, LinkedIn, Outlook, and Excel
  • Experience supporting or leading full-cycle recruiting efforts
  • Comfort analyzing recruiting data or tracking progress against goals
  • Experience participating in career fairs, campus recruiting, or community events
  • Involvement in internship programs, training facilitation, or process improvement initiatives
  • Background in financial services or another highly relationship-driven industry
