Strategic Planning Intern - High Power Electronics

Position Summary:

The Analyst will play an active role in improving the strategic market alignment of Methode's gwowing high power electronics segment. The foundation for the analysis is developing a quantitative and qualitative segmentation analysis of the company's curreent offerings, developing insights into the association of specific design and manufacturing capabilities with end-product functionality, project win rates and program profitability. Building on this product/market analysis, the Analyst will progress through several target application domains, including Aerospace, Defence and Data centers to assess the growth potential of Methode's advanced engineering roadmap and other technology trends, such as wide band-gap semiconductor advancements, on future business growth opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

Information Sourcing

  • Work with engineering, operations and finance teams to establish accurate and repeatable information sources and data flows for the initial product segmentation and profitability analysis
  • Work with sales and information technology teams to incorporate third-party syndicated data sources into forecasts for demand from Methode's customers, such as military, aerospace and data centers
  • Iterate proposed product segmentation with engineering and commercial teams
  • Engage with advanced engineering teams to evaluate the potential for advanced development programs and technology trends to impact value-creation potential of existing and future product segments
  • For markets (such as agricultural and construction vehicles) where syndicated data isn't available, develop creative information sourcing, processing and validation strategies to develop reliable proxies to underpin sales forecasts and strategic planning roadmaps

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and data analyses for executive briefings, Board meetings, and leadership updates on business performance and other strategic priorities.

Interpersonal Engagement and Communication

  • Develop strong working relationships across the organization, building trust and a shared commitment to creation of clear, informative and broadly comparable business performance information.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand the business processes within each of the major functional areas of the company, to ensure that performance forecasts and reports are drawn from appropriate sources and definitions are applied consistently across all global locations and product areas.
  • Develop expertise in blueprinting processes and information flows to ensure timely and effective implementation of supporting technologies to store, process, analyze and display relevant information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Math, Engineering, Economics), with additional course work or Masters in a business-related field preferred.
  • Five years of relevant work experience, ideally in corporate finance, strategy, or consulting, engineering
  • Understanding finance and accounting concepts, combined with the ability to interpret and understand critical differences in engineering designs and manufacturing processes to underpin a robust capability/value segmentation framework
  • Work with marketing, sales, and production information as well as standard financial statements.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities applied to business challenges, with a proactive approach to identifying efficiencies and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, with the drive, intuition and quantitative aptitude to identify, investigate and uncover root causes and correlations for observed patterns in important data series.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience packaging insights for various audiences, including executives.
  • Proficiency in data visualization, analysis, modeling, and business presentation tools.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
