Overview

TRC, a WSP member, creates and implements sophisticated and innovative solutions to the challenges facing America's energy markets and infrastructure. TRC Advanced Energy is seeking an Associate Project Manager who has the skills and ability to manage contractors and oversee energy efficiency and electrification retrofit projects in two California energy efficiency programs. This position has two roles: First, the Energy Advisor component means developing and overseeing retrofit projects at multifamily properties for the San Diego Regional Energy Network's (SDREN) Multifamily Program. Second, the Trade Ally Coordinator component ensures contractors working in the ESA Multifamily Energy Savings program and SDREN program have what they need for success. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, extensive knowledge of energy efficiency retrofits, and relevant experience working on California utility programs.

Approximately 75% of time spent will be as an Energy Advisor maintaining a portfolio of approximately 50-75 projects. This role consists of acting as the single point of contact for customers by providing guidance, contractor support and technical assistance. The candidate will interpret audit results, develop work scopes, confirm equipment eligibility and liaison with customers and contractors from project enrollment through installation and incentive distribution. The Trade Ally Coordinator will be about 25% of the role and consists of communicating program policies and requirements, understanding the status of each contractor's project pipeline, and overcoming barriers contractors face through coordination with the program's leadership team. This position will engage with clients and vendors, property owners, commercial developers/builders, and other stakeholders. As a customer-facing position, it requires strong communication, attention to detail, and business acumen. The ideal candidate will also display a passion for sustainable energy solutions and bridging gaps between low-income customers/disadvantaged communities and utility programs.

The position is located at one of TRC's California offices: Rancho Cordova (Sacramento), San Diego, San Francisco, or Oakland. Staff are encouraged to collaborate in-office when appropriate. You'll be joining a team of collaborative professionals that have a passion for delivering sustainable energy solutions and bridging gaps between disadvantaged communities and funding sources to improve energy efficiency at existing multifamily affordable housing properties.


Responsibilities

  • Facilitate successful completion of energy efficiency projects through multiple stages from beginning to end, including but not limited to scope of work design, project review, construction monitoring, close-out verification, and payment.
  • Distribute large-scale payments (e.g., $100,000+) for multifamily properties owners and contractors.
  • Maintain a strong proficiency in program requirements such as eligible measures, program changes, incentive reservation status, and other information of interest to customers.
  • Provide professional customer support on a range of items including program requirements, technical assistance, problem-solving, and prompt project status updates.
  • Helping contractors and customers by problem-solving to overcome barriers affecting project completion.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings, including regular check-ins with contractors.
  • Coordinating with other energy advisors to provide project updates from contractors
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain project data with a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain project data within a customer relationship management (CRM) database.
  • Draft and deliver professional reports to program management and customers.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate regularly with program team members, including engineering, outreach, operations and management staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in California's energy or sustainability sectors, business operations or consulting, construction oversight or related field. Related credentials in energy efficiency or leadership/management are a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet client/project goals, manage multiple tasks, and ensure timely and effective project delivery.
  • Technical competency:
    • Technical knowledge of/aptitude to learn technical industry concepts including lighting, mechanical, utility systems, building envelope, and energy distribution required.
    • Familiarity with project design and construction processes. Experience with cost estimating, purchasing and closeout is a plus.
    • Strong computer proficiency that ensures day-to-day work and meeting attendance can be performed successfully, Experience using MS Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and ability to conduct independent computer-based research is required.
    • Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or a similar system to effectively track pipeline/energy audits/project activities.
    • Previous experience with any of the following is highly desirable: California utility program implementation, building performance principles, energy efficiency, Title 24, benchmarking, energy or field audits, multifamily properties, low-income populations, or construction management.

  • Organizational skills:
    • Excellent time management skills including the ability to monitor contractor performance and ensure they have the tools, information, and training to succeed.
  • Other:
    • Eligible to work in the United States.
    • Valid driver's license in the State of California (must be obtained prior to employment).
    • Ability to travel to local office(s) and within California.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
