Department:Public Works Department Organizational Unit:Surveying & Mapping Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Part Time CLOSE DATE: 04/22/2026 $19.52 to $21.47 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Part-time/20 hours per week. Work schedule is Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Performs experienced technical work as part of the Survey team office staff preparing and updating digital survey maps, sketches, and exhibits researching deed and plats; and inputting Geographic Information System (GIS) data in the production of GIS asset maps. REQUIREMENTS: thirty (30) semester hours [forty-five (45) quarter hours] of college-level coursework towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, or a closely related field;OR two (2) years of experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drafting or Geographic Information System (GIS) input and mapping;ORone (1) year as a Brevard County Survey Office Technician I PLUS successful completion of all of the classes for one (1) of the phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each of the phase examinations PLUS a current performance evaluation score of 3.75 or higher, with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, a current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must satisfactorily complete, within nine (9) months of employment, all of the classes in the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees. Must successfully complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, all of the classes for any one (1) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examination. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
