Job Title: Head Football Athletic Trainer Department: Athletics College/Division: General University Primary Job Posting Location: Macon, GA 31207 Additional Job Posting Locations: (Other locations that this position could be based) Job Details: Mercer University Athletics is searching for a Head Football Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities: The Head Football Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive health care for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics. This position will work in conjunction with a variety of approved healthcare providers. This role serves as the primary liaison and coordinator of athletic training services, working with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, academics, and athletics administration for all football-related medial matters. The Head Football Athletic Trainer must comply with HIPAA regulations, University policy, and NCAA compliance. While the primary sport assignment will be football, administrative duties and other sport assignments will be determined by Director of Sports Medicine. The incumbent is responsible for administering athlete-centered health care for scholar-athletes at Mercer University. This includes the examination, assessment, and diagnosis of injuries and illnesses; injury and illness prevention and wellness promotion; immediate and emergency care; and therapeutic intervention. The incumbent must uphold the professional and ethical standards set forth by the BOC and the NATA. They must also adhere to the regulations set forth by the state of Georgia. The position is primarily assigned to football but may be required to support other sport programs and perform administrative duties as determined by the Director of Sports Medicine. Qualifications: Master's degree in athletic training or other related field Two years of experience in intercollegiate or professional athletics training program Completion of an accredited Certified Athletic Trainer Program Georgia Licensure for Athletic Training Current BOC certification Current American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA) Certification Additionally, candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Examination, assessment, and diagnosis of injury/illness to determine appropriate course of action Ability to communicate with various populations Ability to implement rehabilitation protocols and use therapeutic modalities and exercise to provide accommodation in sport related injury/illness, assess readiness for safe return to play Ability to coordinate medical appointments and mange athletic training facility Thorough knowledge of athletic training principles, injury prevention, and rehabilitation Ability to make quick, sound decisions in high-pressure situations Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with student-athletes, coaches, and parents Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical documentation Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, and weekends Ability to travel on university business Background Check Contingencies Criminal Background Check Approved Driver's Check Required Document Attachments: Resume Cover Letter List of 3 References with Current Contact Information About Mercer University Founded in 1833, Mercer University is a distinguished private institution recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and community engagement.
