Overview

We are seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead and support cybersecurity efforts across mission-critical systems. This role is responsible for ensuring security compliance, managing risk, and driving ATO processes within complex, cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate brings deep RMF expertise, strong stakeholder communication, and hands-on experience securing enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical security assessments and support system security posture improvements

  • Ensure compliance with RMF and applicable security frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, ICD 503)

  • Lead ATO and IATT efforts, coordinating with ISSMs, ISSEs, system owners, and Authorizing Officials

  • Develop and maintain security documentation including SSPs, POA&Ms, SAPs, and assessment artifacts

  • Support security assessment events and respond to stakeholder inquiries (ISSMs, SCAs, etc.)

  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, DBAs, and system admins to ensure secure system design and implementation

  • Implement and validate security controls within cloud-native and DPaaS environments

  • Apply Zero Trust principles across identity, segmentation, and data flow controls

  • Utilize tools such as XACTA and Splunk to manage compliance and monitoring efforts

Required Skills

Required Skills
13+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
Strong experience with RMF processes and ATO lifecycle management
Hands-on experience with XACTA and security documentation development
Experience assessing IT architectures for compliance with federal security standards
Proficiency with Splunk or similar monitoring tools
Strong understanding of cloud security and modern architectures
Ability to work effectively in a SCIF environment
Certifications
Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II/III certification (required)
