Overview
Support programs that connect youth development with agriculture and natural resource education. This internship provides hands-on experience delivering 4-H programming alongside agricultural and environmental outreach efforts, helping youth and community members build skills in areas such as leadership, agriculture, and stewardship of natural resources.

You'll work with a supportive team that values experiential learning, mentorship, and strong community relationships. Interns can expect a mix of youth engagement, field-based experiences, and program support activities. Work may take place in classrooms, community spaces, and outdoor settings, with some flexibility in scheduling based on program needs. This is a great opportunity for students interested in working with youth while gaining experience in agriculture or natural resources.

Responsibilities
  • The intern will play an active role in supporting Utah State University Extension and 4-H programming at the Bastian Agricultural Center, gaining hands-on experience in youth development, livestock education, and community outreach. Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of 4-H and Extension livestock programs, including clinics, workshops, and hands-on learning experiences for youth and beginning producers.
  • Support implementation of Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles by mentoring youth participants, fostering life skills, and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the coordination and execution of 4-H livestock shows, skill-a-thons, and educational events, ensuring alignment with Extension learning objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with program evaluation and reporting, including tracking participation, outcomes, and impacts for Extension accountability.
  • Collaborate with Extension faculty and staff to develop educational materials, demonstrations, and outreach content that strengthen livestock knowledge and community engagement.

Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
